Fall Barbeque 2023

Our fall event was not only a great time, but a huge success!

The HNRMC Fall Barbeque event was a smashing success at The Hunter Farm in Wedington on September 21, 2023. Those members and guests in attendance enjoyed great food, great fellowship and keen insights into local, state and national politics from All-Star talent from WBT Radio.

Those in attendance were appreciative of the hospitality shown to all by the Andreson family. Those who haven't had the pleasure to visit, should. Five generations of history follow this family and this property.

Candidates from across the state joined the membership as well as NCGOP Chair Michael Whatley. Candidates were given a moment to briefly introduce themselves and express their reasons for running for the particular office they are vying for. The candidates for the most part kept their remarks brief. Those elected officials not running during this election cycle were also recognized.

Once everyone had fed themselves with the fantastic barbeque and sides, the main event started. The assembled crowd was disappointed that Vince Coakley had to cancel his appearance but were thrilled to still have both Brett Jensen and Brett Winterble in attendance.

We sometimes forget how fortunate we are to have the talent locally that we do on WBT. Brett and Brett gave great insights into both local and national politics and discussed the differences between political journalism on radio and television.

Both detailed some interesting personal stories of interactions with politicians, both past and present, and their predictions for winners and losers in the upcoming 2024 elections. The pair was kind enough to take questions from those in attendance on a whole host of topics. It's these types of events that separate HNRMC from so many other clubs around the state and country. A fantastic evening!
